Frequently Asked Questions (DaDesktop for Training)
1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)
- No, MS Office is not included within DD (Windows 10 & 11 Pro). We simply offer a DD virtual machine and a training room.
- Trainers are expected to set up a free trial of MS Office for all participants.
- Otherwise, delegates can use their personal MS Office account.
2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Yes, we've created a straightforward method for uploading files from your local computer to the DD Desktop. A minor drawback is that only a single file can be transferred at once. But you can easily bundle everything into a zip or archive, then copy that over to your DaDesktop machine without hassle.
- If you're using a cloud storage service, remember to log out before cloning the environment to all participants.
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you're on Chrome, navigate to "chrome://settings/system" and disable the hardware acceleration option.
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, under the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, trainers are not permitted access to the wiki.
- To submit edits for the NobleProg wiki, simply copy and paste the content and email it to the trainer; a PDF is also fine.
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?
Indeed! Please add the following domain pattern to your whitelist:
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
If you have more questions, reach out to DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?
- Trainers can begin by configuring the DD instance—adjusting RAM, CPUs, and disk space.
- Next, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to create several virtual machines and set up networking between them.
- Once everything is configured, you can clone the setup to participants in seconds.
- If needed, contact DaDesktop Support for assistance.
7. What is the server capacity?
- It varies with server hardware.
- For instance, 512GB of RAM could be allocated as 512GB times 3.
- Each server supports up to 250GB disk space, 16 CPU threads per desktop, while RAM settings are adjustable.
8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?
- Yes, you can now download recordings by clicking the three dots on the right side of the video player.
- The video includes audio, provided you used the training room's audio feature.
9. Which browser should I used for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work great.
- Browsers like Internet Explorer aren't fully supported.
10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?
- Start by checking your internet connection—DaDesktop performance depends on your local speed.
- Verify the server location; the coordinator typically selects a server close to participants when setting up the desktop.
- Disable your VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Additionally, turn off any security software, particularly those that might interfere with WebSockets, as they are essential for DaDesktop to run smoothly.
11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network
Using Remote Desktop relies on Websocket
- The issue may stem from your device. Look for settings or configurations that block Websocket. For instance, on some Chromebooks, under proxy settings, if "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is checked, Websocket won't function (because it assigns a proxy to the "SOCKS host"). Uncheck it and leave "SOCKS host" empty—this should solve the problem.
- Alternatively, the problem could be the network itself rather than your device. You'll need to speak with your network administrator to have Websocket unblocked.
12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?
- Refer to this GPU page for details on GPU support.
13. Is there any potential issues or answers?
- In general, DaDesktop behaves like a regular Windows or Linux computer, but you might encounter a few minor issues with certain software applications in a training setting, particularly those related to machine cloning.
14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?
- No, we don't support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, primarily because of licensing concerns.
